'From the Heart' by Marina Antoniou
In conjunction with the National Heart Foundation, resident jeweller Marina Antoniou launched her necklace ‘From the Heart' at the first Women with Heart luncheon earlier this year.
For the luncheon, held at View by Sydney with Natarsha Belling as MC, Marina designed and gifted a sterling silver necklace to the 80 guests who attended in the hope of starting an important conversation on womens heart health.
"The statistics are frightening - heart disease is the single biggest killer of Australian men and women, and it's currently claiming the lives of 24 Australian women per day. Three times as many women die of heart disease compared to breast cancer, the unfortunate thing is that public awareness is low" says Marina.
Marina's necklace entitled 'From the Heart', is inspired by the ideas of connection, support and balance - three things that helped her go from struggle to strength in her own personal health journey (you can read more of Marina's story here).
The pendant is made up of two tear shaped halves, which overlap and come together to form a sculptural shape resembling a heart.
“With this necklace, I hope to start a conversation and educate women about the importance of their own heart health and remind them of the risk factors associated with heart disease. I also hope to bring light and positivity to those that have been personally touched by cardiovascular disease."
Marina's necklace is available at Courtesy of the Artist and can be purchased in store and ordered online. A percentage of the sale of every necklace will be donated directly to the Heart Foundation's Women and Heart Disease campaign.
