Rare Earth: Australian Made 2016
To celebrate The Strand Arcade's 125th year of creating and craftsmanship, Courtesy of the Artist is excited to be sharing with you the latest incarnation of Rare Earth: Australian Made.
Come join us on Thursday 25th of August from 6:00pm - 8:00pm to see new work from resident artists Cesar Cueva, Cinnamon Lee, Todd Turner, Marina Antoniou and master gemcutter Doug Menadue. We are also very excited to be introducing Fealofani Elisara as the newest member to our creative team of artists, who will be presenting her own unique flavour to the show.
Included in this collection are gemstones from all around Australia, such as sapphires from Lava Plains and Rubyvale, smokey quartz from O'Briens Creek, zircons from Harts Range, pearls from Cygnet Bay, opals from Quilpie and Andamooka and diamonds from the East Kimberely region.
Our custom cut gemstone 'The Fitzroy’ which we launched last year will feature in two rings by Cinnamon Lee, in an Australian white topaz and black spinel.
In addition to our much loved Australian gemstones, we are excited to reveal a one-of-a-kind ring by Todd Turner which features a very rare 28 carat eye-clean tourmaline. Alongside Doug Menadue, Todd has created an architectural design for this tourmaline which Doug has cut from rough right here in Sydney. This ring takes our idea of rarity and Australian Made to a whole new level and has to be seen to be believed.
As Director of Courtesy of the Artist, Nina Cueva will be embellishing this very special exhibition with her floral masterpieces of Australian native flowers.
We are also proud to have Balvenie on board to warm up our wintery bellies with celebratory drinks to share with you.
